Skin redness and inflammation?

I have red raised dry skin on my face and arms. It comes and goes and i have no idea what causes it. I've dealt with it all my life and some years are great and others are worse. I have lived in Canada and the Bahamas with these issues but whenever I go to Florida on vacation my skin is perfect. So I'm just really confused.

It’s hard to say for sure, but it sounds like you have keratosis Pilaris, which are small red bumps on the arms or cheeks, which are a sign of sensitive skin. Florida may just be humid enough to keep it under control. Look for moisturizers with alpha or beta hydroxy acid - gold bond rough and bumpy, glytone, sal acid-based lotions and washes, etc. Don’t scrub or rub.
Hope that helps.
There are a few possibilities:

-Atopic dermatitis
-Seborrheic dermatitis
-Contact dermatitis

The fact it gets better in Florida (humid environment) and you have had it since early childhood indicates more the Dx of Atopic Dermatitis. Always a visit to a dermatologist is recommended to get a more accurate Dx.
Hi,

Hard to say because many possibilities come to mind…if you get better in Florida and worse in northern climates, you may have a condition called keratosis pilaris, which is dry, itchy, rough skin triggered by lowered humidity environments and over-soaping. You may want to start with a good moisturizer like Cetaphil lotion and soaping only when necessary, not as matter of course every time you shower….a mild soap like Dove Bar soap or cetaphil soap is also recommended.
Hope the above measures help!
