Surgical screws causing pain

I've been experiencing severe knee pain and I think it's because of the screws that were put in to help a fracture heal. My knee swells up and the areas that the screws are in have become sensitive. Its to the point where it wakes me up. Is it common for medical hardware to cause pain like this and should I get them removed

That is not normal. You need to go back and get your knee reevaluated Get Outlook for iOS<https://aka.ms/o0ukef>
Yes very common. Call your orthopod , get xrays. If bone is healed then the hardware us not doing anything and can be removed Sent from Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

If the fracture is healed removing the screws might help
Yes, its common to have inflammation and irritation of soft tissue from screws and plates. They can cause tendinitis. If they are bothering and fracture is healed, you can discuss with your doctor to get them removed. You are young, so its better to get them removed if fracture is healed. See your doctor.
