There are various types of inhalers used for asthma treatment, including: - Pressurized Metered Dose Inhalers pMDIs, commonly known as "puffers." - Dry Powder Inhalers DPIs, which deliver medication in powder form. - Soft Mist Inhalers SMIs, which convert liquid medication into a fine mist for inhalation. Additionally, treatment options include inhaled corticosteroids, Long-Acting Beta-Agonists LABAs, Long-Acting Muscarinic Antagonists LAMAs, reliever rescue medications, and Short-Acting Beta-Agonists SABAs, as well as combination inhalers.
There are many different inhalers currently on the market for the treatment of asthma. The treatment for asthma follows a step-wise approach depending on the severity of your asthma. Treatment typically begins with a short acting bronchodilator , and progresses on to include a daily inhaled corticosteroid ICS, then a daily ICS combined with a long acting bronchodilator LABA, and finally progressing on to tripple therapy which includes a daily ICS-LABA and a muscarinic antagonist.
There are several types of inhalers used to treat asthma. There are emergencyrescue inhalers which typically contain albuterol, also long acting corticosteroid inhalers and combination type inhalers as well. I would suggest an appointment with your diagnosing provider to discuss treatment options.
