What can I do about tendonitis?

My hand is hurting really bad and I was diagnosed with tendonitis. How can I treat it?

What did your doctor recommend? What is tendinitis? Inflammation of the tendon (usually the ex Heath and not the actual tendon itself); have you ever heard of “RICE” treatment?
-Rest
-Ice
-Compress
-Elevate

That’s usually a good place to start. Rest the extremity that has the tendinitis - that means don’t stress those muscles that are part of the tendon attachment. Ice the soft tissue by applying an ice bag directly to the skin (it’s safe and okay, but some people cannot tolerate ice directly on their skin); wrap the arm or leg or wherever the tendon is that’s inflamed with a small ace wrap to compress; neoprene compression braces can be bought in any drug store (also called compression sleeves). If there is a significant amount of swelling, you must elevate that extremity above the heart, especially if the swelling is so great it causes pain.
Tendonitis in the wrist and hand is a result of inflammation of the tendon covering. This is usually a result of trauma or overuse. So best treatment is protecting with splint, routine ice or light heat followed by ice, topical anti inflammatory, and as pain resolves, light exercise.
Good luck.
You can try a brace as well as oral anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen if you are able to take that medicine.
