You should see your primary care provider as soon as you're able.
Ankle pain has many causes, including arthritic ones, ligament strains or sprains, diabetes, fractures, and nerve tumors, among many others. Is the pain worse with standing? Walking? Sports? Is it affected by different weather conditions? Does it improve with rest and elevation and application of ice? Have you had any X-Rays or diagnostic assessments? All these questions have to be addressed by a competent foot and ankle specialist. This could include either a podiatrist (foot doctor) or an orthopedic foot and ankle specialist. Once you have undertaken the appropriate evaluation, only then can reliable treatment be safely and carefully applied. Good luck!

Well, first of all you have to know what is the cause of the pain.
Then after that you can treat the ankle pain. Taking pain medications or some sort of treatment without knowing the cause might not help .
A specialist might have to do some physical exams or imaging studies to figure out the cause.
Its better to go see a specialist

Depends on the cause of the pain, most common causes are arthritis, injury, tendonitis, ligament issues, etc.... please seek the treatment options with local orthopedics or podiatrist.
Rest, ice and elevation is a good starting point. I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for evaluation and treatment options
That completely depends on what is causing your pain. Start with stretching, icing and NSAIDs. Rest and stay away from heavy activity or athletics. If those things do not help, go to a physician to find out the cause of the pain. There are many things from Tendinitis to fractures to cartilage problems and ligament problems that could be causing your pain.
