There are various treatments at a dentists disposal to decrease the sensitivity of teeth. There are some chemicals that can be applied to sensitive root surfaces. Topical fluoride and fluoride varnish can also be effective in reducing sensitivity. Sometime sensitivity is caused by something needing more than just chemical treatment.
There are several ways to help with sensitive teeth, from as simple as topical applications to placing filling materials to cover it. See a dentist to determine the cause and the appropriate solution.
High concentrated fluoride treatments often help along with special desensitization.
A dentist cannot do too much about sensitive teeth. YOU can help yourself by using Proenamel toothpaste and not having acidic food.

Sensitive teeth can be caused by cavities, gum disease and recession, clenching, fractures, and whitening toothpastes or rinses. Consult your dentist to see which of these causes your sensitivity and what the appropriate care can do to help.
Make sure you see a dentist twice a year to get your teeth cleaned. There are a few options for sensitive teeth, bonding, MI paste, desensitization materials, etc. Try a sensitive toothpaste, crest or Colgate, brush on, do not rinse it off, just spit out the extra. Most effective this way. See a general dentist for a cleaning, it is valuable!
