Depending on the level of anxiety, whether it is mild or moderate/severe you can use different approaches. If it is mild, you should start working with a therapist that specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), if it is moderate or severe, other than therapy you should be evaluated by a psychiatrist to find the right antianxiety medication for you.
Anxiety is a very common condition which, over time, can be managed extremely well. There are many treatment options including: talk therapy, CBT therapy, self-help books, and medication. Perhaps you can speak with your GP to think through which treatment would be best for you.

The best treatment plan for your anxiety would have you treated by a psychiatrist as well as a psychologist. The psychiatrist will determine if medication is appropriate and the psychologist can often help with CBT or other forms of therapy.
