Hello!

There are many reasons that can cause noises in your ears. Also known as tinnitus. Some common causes is excessive exposure to loud sounds, overall hearing loss, smoking, chemotherapy treatments, neck/shoulder muscle tightness along with other things. If it isn’t going away, I would make an appointment with an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor and make sure there’s no medical concerns. After that, I would follow up with an audiologist who specializes in tinnitus treatment.
Hi,

Tinnitus, which many people describe as ringing or whirring in their ears, is a very common condition. I am not able to say exactly what is causing your tinnitus without a formal evaluation. Even with an evaluation, we often are not able to determine what is *causing* the tinnitus, but rather focus on how to manage the tinnitus. If you are interested in getting more information about your hearing and tinnitus, I would recommend a hearing test, and from there we can determine if a formal tinnitus evaluation is necessary. If you are looking for some general information about tinnitus, I would recommend the American Tinnitus Association (www.ata.org) as a fantastic resource.

There are many causes. The condition is called tinnitus. The most common cause is noise exposure that damages hearing. Other common causes are ear wax, head trauma, ear infection, medication, etc. If you have had a recent onset of tinnitus, I suggest having a baseline hearing exam with a local licensed audiologist.
