“What could be causing a stinging pain in my eye?”
I have a sharp stinging pain in my eye that seemingly came from nowhere. What could be causing this?

Depends on the diagnosis. A complete ophthalmologic exam should be performed.
The most common cause of stinging eye is dry ice. You can use artificial tears that you can buy over the counter and see if that resolves your stinging Eye. specially use the drops at night before going to bed and first thing in the morning when you wake up

Sounds like you have dry eye disease or recurrent erosion syndrome or eyelid concretions. Please see your local ophthalmologist for further evaluation and treatment.
Dryness is the likely cause. Try lubrication like artificial tear drops. These will help whenever the symptoms appear.
