Short answer - the same thing we do for teens and adults... Find restrictions in the joints and restore proper motion to the joints to improve function, range of motion, and nervous system functionality. Have your chiropractor examine your child and explain what care is appropriate for their condition.
A pediatric chiropractor has additional education beyond their Doctor of Chiropractic degree and examinations. To be recognized as a specialist Pediatric Chiropractor, after taking years of additional studies, they would need to pass a Board exam by the Chiropractic Pediatric Board. They have additional knowledge of childhood conditions and Chiropractic treatment thereof. Many also employ nutritional and therapeutic exercises in helping this age group. Most parents have good experiences from incorporating a Board Certified Pediatric Chiropractor within their child’s healthcare regime. I would always check a practitioner’s reviews on the internet along with possibly a word of mouth recommendation before choosing the Pediatric Chiropractor for your child to see. Just as you would for choosing a practitioner for yourself.
The analysis and treatment for kids can be different from treatment for adults. There are a few different analysis for kids under 6 months old that don’t work past that age. The treatments are also much gentler and treatment plans are very brief.
The main goal of a chiropractor is to work with the nervous system. In case of a pediatric chiropractor he or she is going to reassure that your boys is in complete alignment for the nervous system to function properly and avoid any future repercussions in the boys health. Remember, the bonus of going to a chiropractor is living a life with minimal to no pain at all but that is accomplish when the nervous system is in complete homeostasis with the body.
Chiropractors focus on the neuromusculoskeletal system, which breaks down into the Nervous System, Muscles, and Skeletal system. As kids are growing, their growth plates have fused together, leaving them more susceptible to sprains, strains, injuries, and dislocations. Pediatric chiropractors make sure that the child's spine is properly aligned so that the nervous system, which relays messages from the child's brain to their muscles and organs, is functioning properly. They also ensure the rest of the child's body is in proper alignment to avoid a potential injury from playing or a sporting event. As an example, if a child's hips are out of alignment, it could cause one leg to be shorter than the other, causing pressure on the knee of the longer leg. This could eventually lead to an injury. Pediatric chiropractic ensures that your child grows and develops as healthy as possible.
A pediatric Chiropractor will take a history, do a physical exam, and perform specific spinal adjustments if needed. X-rays may be ordered if there are signs of scoliosis, leg length inequality, or any other spinal abnormality that may be contributing to your areas of concern. It will also depend what your goals are for your child. Diet and exercises associated with certain conditions can be advised along with sending you to another provider if needed.
Adjustments are gentle and can be done manually or with an activator or impulse adjusting instrument.
Benefits of chiropractic that many parents report: improved sleep, digestion, improved nursing in infants, less illness and infections with more rapid recovery, improved behavior, improved concentration and mood, better connection and perception of their environment.
All chiropractors learn how to adjust children and have taken pediatric courses in order to be licensed. A Pediatric Chiropractor is one who has taken post graduate programs in Pediatrics permitting them to specialize in children. They are more aware of developmental changes as the infant becomes a toddler, child and adolescent.

You can expect a pediatric chiropractor to perform an examination to figure out what is wrong. If chiropractic care is clinically indicated, then a treatment plan will be designed. Usually this will include one or more of the following treatment modalities: chiropractic manipulation of the spine, extremities, and/or cranium, massage techniques, exercises, nutrition recommendations, taping or support braces, heat or ice. There are many chiropractic manipulation techniques. Some are manual, some use tools, and some use special tables.
Unfortunately, I do not know. I have never taken pediatric chiropractic training. Any chiropractor can work on a child. I would recommend asking friends or family members who use a chiropractor for a referral or use these these links to find someone in your area:

Most chiropractors are happy to talk to patients about their specific concerns before seeing them in their office for care.
