Post-grafting pain is inflammatory in nature. The best thing to combat this pain is NSAID medication like Ibuprofen, Alleve, or Motrin. Your dentist or periodontist will typically provide a prescription for such medication. Narcotic analgesics are not typically necessary and can pose risks if taken for longer post-operative stretches (i.e. 1-2 weeks).
Warm salt water rinses, gentle not vigorously swishing, can neutralize the ph of the mouth to relieve pain. As for medication you can take 400 mg of Ibuprofen with 500 mg of Tylenol every 4-6 hours.
Most over-the-counter meds will help to depend on your medical history. Please ask your dentist for a specific recommendation.
Alternate doses of tylenol and advil every 4 hours.
U should discuss with the dentist who did it as they know the extent of the surgery and clinical presentation . Thanks
