For neck pain try over the counter pain relievers Aspirin, motrin (ibuprofen), Aleve, or tylenol. You can also use heat or ice applied to the painful area. Begin by using ice for the first 48 hours to 72 hours and then heat. Always check with your doctor prior to taking any medications.
That would depend on the cause of the pain. Could be a pinched nerve, which you should be seen by a doctor for. If it's something more simple then ibuprofen or Aleve will help. Also, try an ice pack for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Rangs of motion exercises may help as well.
I have a lot of neck pain and I take 2 extra strength Tylenol, a hot shower followed by relaxing for about 20-30 minutes. It really helps! Good luck Janice Feenstra RN MSN
