My advice is go to do the test first. Like CT-Scan or MRI first. After you get the test report. Then make a decision. Thanks!
Acupuncture
Acupuncture with massage and herbs can relieve or fix your sciatica gradually. If you need chiropractic care you can get that also.
It depends: if you have a bad structural changes, chiro is a good option. Otherwise, for the muscle stiffness, tendon issue caused pain, I suggest try acupuncture first.
It really depends on what is causing the sciatica; but I have not had a sciatica patient not get relief from acupuncture. Definitely check with your primary to see if alternative medicine is an option.
Both treatments have good successes with treating sciatica. It depends on how well you respond to the treatment.
Good luck
Acupuncture can needle on your trigger points that cause your nerve pain in your sciatica and can reduce your pain right away, and won't comeback for a long time. Chiropractor is more on the bone setting and it is different from acupuncture, unless the bone setting can reduce the nerve pain that is trigger by the bone pressing the nerve, However, in most case, sciatica pain is not pressed by the bone. from the right amount of adjustment, if over adjust can get even worst result
That depends on the cause. If the nerve obstruction is caused by a subluxation of the spine or tightness in the muscles. Acupuncture is better at addressing muscle tightness.
Being an acupuncturist might make me a little bit biased to say that acupuncture is better than chiropractic, however when it is not clear what is the cause of sciatica, I would avoid any form of manipulation and choose the safest therapy. If symptoms do not decrease after a series of acupuncture treatments, I would recommend asking for an MRI.

Patients with acute sciatica may find relief within two to three acupuncture Sessions so. On the other hand, patients with chronic sciatica
usually require about eight to 12 treatments depending on what caused the problem ( disc herniation, stenosis, bone spurs).
I think both practices together are amazing in treating sciatica.

I work with sciatica every day and I see really good results.

They are bother good for different reasons. If a nerve is impinged then chiropractic can go a long way to help. If the bursa is inflamed or you are experiencing inflammation Acupuncture can be really helpful.
Acupuncture works very well with sciatica. It is the reason Medicare only covers for lower back pain with or without sciatica. Most of commercial insurance polices also cover this condition.
Both will help. We work on different part on our body. We work on the muscles and nerves, chiropractors work on your bones. You need all of them on balance.
acupuncture
I personally have gotten more relief from acupuncture, but every patient is different, have you tried either yet?
Acupuncture is very successful with sciatica.
Sometimes your spine needs to be put back into place to get the bones off the sciatic nerve, but the muscles will eventually pull the spine back out and you're back to square one. I like to have people start with acupuncture, and if it doesn't do the trick in 5 or 6 treatments, I send them to the chiropractor to get the spine back into alignment. THEN I can stop the pain and make it last.
I think acupuncture is better for sciatica.
Not being a chiropractor, I'm obviously biased. I've been in practice for a while and I've co-treated patients with lots of different providers, including chiropractors. In my experience of sciatic pain cases, acupuncture typically provides better pain relief that lasts longer relative to chiropractic adjustment.
