Cardiologist Questions Blood Pressure

What is considered high blood pressure?

My mom was taking my blood pressure, and told me that it's pretty high for my age. I'm only 23, but I don't understand what numbers are high and what numbers are low. What numbers indicate that my blood pressure is high?

In the past, if the systolic bp was above 140 mm of hg, it was high. If diastolic bp was above 90mm of hg, it was high. Now the physicians are supposed to inform the patients to keep systolic bp below 120-130 mm of hg & diastolic bp below 90. If your bp is above 140/90 mm of hg, you should see a cardiologist.
You do not want your BPs to be above 120/80 mm of Hg.
