What is neuralgia in the head?

I was diagnosed with neuralgia in the head. What is it? Is it serious?

It is a pain caused by an inflammation of a superficial nerve in the scalp of the face.
It all depends what type of neuralgia is it. The most common and at times difficult to treat is trigeminal neuralgia. There are different treatment approaches that exist.
Neuralgia is pain due to nerve damage or irritation. In the head, the most common ones are Trigeminal (pain around face, jaw) and cervical (pain to the scalp to the back of the head and neck).

Neuralgia means “painful nerve." It can occur anywhere in the body, but it is most common in the face and scalp. It is only serious in that it is painful. There are no other serious concerns with it.
