What is the best age to have a facelift?

I am a 46 year old female. I want to get a facelift. What is the best age to have a facelift?

The best time to have a facelift varies!
Usually it is when you notice you have jowls and your skin feels lax!
People age differently so there is no best age!

There is no best age for face-lift. It's about multiple factors:
1. Desire
2. Motivations (e.g. wedding events for the children; divorce..)
3. Facial aging / sagging; Sun damage...etc
4. Patient's health and fitness condition to have surgery
5. Financial considerations
6. Support of family or love ones....

Average common age range : 45 - 80 ( I have a few who are in their late 30's and some 80+)
People see facial aging in their forties with the formation of jowls, marionette lines from the lower lip to the jaw, and prominent nasolabial folds from the nose to the upper lip. These changes are amenable to a mini-facelift (cheeks only). In the fifties, neck laxity and the platysmal neck muscle bands (turkey gobbler) appear as well, which is amenable to a full facelift. Some patients start having these changes earlier or later, depending on heredity, weight fluctuation, smoking, sun exposure, and health issues. Other changes in the eyelids and forehead occur as well and can be addressed. A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is the best first step.  Hope this helps.

In my opinion the younger the better. Studies have shown that patients who have facial surgery in their 40’s and 50’s, are happier with the results, heal faster and have more longevity with the results as well. This isn’t to say you can’t have a facelift later in life however, younger patients seem to enjoy the results a little bit more. The best age to have a face that is when you, the patient, are bothered by your newly acquired features and want to have them altered. Your age is a very common age for having a facelift although generally it increases with increasing age.
