What is the best medicine for lactose intolerance?

I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance. Is it serious? What is the best medicine for lactose intolerance?

Lactose intolerance can be very distressing and cause a lot of cramps, bloating and pain but it is not terribly serious and not life-threatening. The best "medicine" is either avoiding lactose in your diet altogether or trying over-the-counter Lactaid pills prior to ingesting any food with lactose.
There is no specific medicine for this. It is caused by a lack of lactase enzyme in the small intestine, so lactose (the sugar) cannot be broken down and digested.
You simply need to avoid excessive lactose in your foods, or use products that contain the lactase enzyme, such as Lactaid.
