The answer is it depends on what is the origin of the pain, if the pain is due to inflammation, then anti inflammatories like alleve will help. If the pain is due to injury or trauma then tylenol with codeine is usually give as presciption. hope this helps.
For bone and joint pain, NSAIDS (ibuprofen, motrin, naproxen, etc.) are first line. Tylenol can also help with inflammation if that is the cause of foot pain. Other than that, lifestyle recommendations include getting a shoe with better support and ice/heat (whichever helps more).
The best painkiller is finding out what is causing the pain and treating that cause. The pain is a symptom, telling you something is wrong.
NSAID
If the foot pain is in your joints, I would recommend either Tylenol or Aleve.
Try anti inflammatory meds before taking narcotics
That really depends on the origin of the foot pain. Arthritic pain responds very well to NSAIDS like Ibuprofen. Neuropathic or nerve pain does better with GABA inhibitors like gabapentin. Muscles aches and strains or sprains can do well with both Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Ice and rest is almost always a standard source or help and improvement.
