I have ankle pain. What medications help with ankle pain?

advil or alleve
Ibuprofen, Advil, Naproxen. If they don't help then see a professional for prescription medication. But first, the cause of the ankle pain needs to be investigated.

From a Certified Health Coach viewpoint, ankle pain is a symptom of an injury, degeneration or deformity of an ankle and not the problem. Pain meds should be taken if pain is preventing diagnosis or treatment of the Root Cause: The Problem. Eliminating pain makes you think you have cured the problem and you have not. Finally many pain medications are addictive (opiates) or have side effects that may be worse than the problem. Hope this helps in a wellness sense.
Depending on what kind of pain, if inflammatory then an NSAID if nerve anything from gapapentin or lyrica, if gout then indocin or colchicine. Just need the right diagnosis
Over the counter anti inflammatories, such as ibuprofen and naproxen can help. Do not take more than 2000mg of ibuprofen or 1000mg of naproxen in a day. Do not take any medication you are allergic to. If you have a history of stomach issues, check with your primary care physician before starting any over the counter anti inflammatories. If your ankle pain persist, then follow up with your local podiatrist or orthopedic physician.
The answer is depending on what is the root cause of the pain. medication such as pain creams and oral medication can only help with the pain, but not addressing the root cause will likely have the pain reocurred at later time. So I would recommend for you to see a local podiatrist or orthopedic doctor to find the root cause.
