What's causing my bloating?

I get bloated too often. What can I do? Should I see a doctor?

The main cause of bloating is gas, fluid retention, irritable bowel disease, food intolerance, menstrual symptoms, infections and others. Many things can be done such as drinking water, eat banana, choose veggies wisely, and don’t have dinner late. However, it would be better if you have a health care provider to do a complete work up sine bloating is cased by multiple etiologies. Thank you.
There are many causes, but to make sure it is not IBD, you need to consult a GI doc.

Bloating is typically caused by either a very poor diet or can sometimes be due to abnormal bacteria in the gut. Diets that are high in carbohydrates and fat can cause a lot of bloating so try to cut down on those types of foods. As for the bacteria, taking a probiotic daily can help replenish the "good" bacteria and prevent the "bad" bacteria from causing symptoms.
Don't eat foods that cause gas. Take OTC medicines. Still bloated? See a gastroenterologist.

Bloating is a common symptom and can be caused by a variety of things. First, check to make sure you are having a good bowel movement daily. Constipation is a very common cause of bloating. Second, look at what you are eating. Foods that are high in carbohydrates and certain sugars can cause bloating. For a good list of high carbohydrate foods that can cause bloating look up high FODMAP foods. If your bloating is associated with weight loss, vomiting, or fatigue you should see your doctor as sometimes it can signify a more serious problem.
Bloating, especially after eating, is often caused by carbohydrate malabsorption. Reducing carbs in the diet usually helps. Try the low FODMAP diet. Sometimes, constipation contributes to bloating as well.
