What to avoid before an endo treatment?

I will have an endodontic treatment. What to avoid before an endo treatment?

You should avoid to chew on the tooth that you will have root canal treatment .
Depends on your medical history and condition and the type of sedation and anesthesia you will or will not be receiving…in general, take all your routine medications as normal if any, proceed as you normally do prior to your treatment if you are not having IV or oral sedation. Certain medically compromised patients will need special pre-operative instructions and may need to do certain things differently prior to their endodontic therapy. Prior to any IV sedation or oral sedation specific pre-operative instructions will be given as well. These cases are different. I hope that answers the question.. if it’s a simple case nothing to avoid. Complex.. a different ballgame.
Avoid any kind of alcohol or tobacco for at least 24 hours before the root canal to prepare your gums for the local anesthetic. Get a full night of sleep the evening before the procedure. Take an anti-inflammatory painkiller before you arrive at the endodontist's office.
Hi, thank you for asking the question. Basically, you should avoid chewing on the tooth, which will receive Endo treatment, before and after the treatment. If that particular tooth needs a crown, then wait until a crown is installed/ placed before eating/chewing on it. If that tooth had already had a crown and there is no recurrent decay under & around the margins of the crown, then you can eat normally after endo treatment. However, you can still brush and floss the tooth as usual. God bless you !
Before treatment, the obvious, eat nothing hot or cold if it hurts, Don't eat on it if it hurts, avoid hard foods (icecubes, unpopped popcorn kernels, rock candy, stale bagels, hard/pver-cooked pizza crust, etc if the tooth is wake and fracturing. No eating/drinking anything at least 6 hours before if having nitrous oxide (Laughing Gas). Good Luck
Share any allergies you have to any medications with your dentist.  Do not self-medicate before or after the procedure.  Do not consume alcohol before the procedure.
