What to do if part of your tooth breaks off?

I am a 25 year old male. I want to know what to do if part of your tooth breaks off?

It depends on how much. A small chip at the edge is often just smoothed off. Larger amounts may need to be replaced with tooth colored filling material. A large amount may require a crown and if you break it off near gum line, a root canal and crown, or extraction and an implant in the worst case scenario! But any break of any size should be repaired.
The tooth may need partial or full coverage restoration.
If part of your tooth falls off, you will need either a filling or a crown. If the nerve is involved, the tooth will need a root canal and a crown. The sooner you get to a dentist, the more likely a less invasive option (filling) will save the tooth.
Visit your American Dental Association dentist to have it repaired. Do not chew on it till repaired. Avoid cold temperatures.
See a dentist asap, if sharp, put some ortho wax to cover the sharp edge (you can get in any pharmacy store). If you have pain, take Advil/Motrin/Tylenol as needed till you can get to the dentist.
Go to the dentist and get it fixed. If it broke, it was probably decayed for a while
Without knowing who, what, where, when, and why, I would definitely go see your dentist immediately. These breaks don’t happen without a reason. It could be a cavity, a large filling that broke, or tooth structure. It could also be from grinding. Pain does not have to be a must in order for you to have a significant problem.

First thing you should do is try and find a dentist if you don't have one already.
Go to the dentist. Small chips can sometimes just be smoothed off. If there is decay or a larger piece missing, bonding can be performed to replace the missing piece.
Dear Reader,

Teeth can break from a number of reasons, but ultimately, it comes down to: trauma or decay. Either way, you need to see a dentist to diagnose the cause, determine the prognosis (can it be repaired or not) and treat the tooth. If you are having no pain, that's great because at least it's probably not an emergency (unless you have fever and/or swelling). Be aware no pain doesn't mean no problem, there could be some serious infection present. If it is sensitive/painful, you really should have it checked right away. If it's sharp, go to a pharmacy and get some orthodontic wax, or temporary filling material in the dental/oral section. Place it on the tooth to cover the sharp part. If there's a cavity, place it in the "hole." Teeth are the strongest tissues in the body, so if a tooth breaks, it's serious and should be treated right away.

Hope this helps,

See your dentist for treatment. Depending upon the size and location of the broken tooth, it may need a filling or a crown.
Hello,
Part of a tooth breaks off due to various reasons. It could be due to biting on something hard or most common reason is a decayed tooth. It depends on the extent of the breakage, we can easily fill it or crowning a tooth if it’s too large.
Thank you.
