What will a retina consultation examine?

My doctor suggested that I needed to have a retina consultation. What does a retina consultation usually involve?

A detailed exam of your retina and retina imaging
Wide field fundus images, optical coherence tomography, dilated slit lamp and indirect ophthalmoscopy.
A retina exam involves dilating the eyes which will make your close vision blurry for 4 to 6 hours and will make your eyes sensitive to light. People usually bring a person with them to drive.
Your pupils are dilated often before you see the MD and a detailed photograph, exam, optical coherence tomogram and possible fluorescein angiogram are done. The latter is an IV injection of a vegetable dye that will traverse the arteries and veins of the retina while a technician takes rapid "fire" black and white photos of the retinal vascular tree looking at how the dye traverses the vessels and retina. He or she formulates a diagnosis and sends a letter to your eye doc about the findings and recommendations
It would depend on what the evaluation is for but it will for sure involve dilation of the eyes so I would recommend bringing a driver.
Dilation lasts 4-6 hours usually and can make your reading vision blurry and glare bothersome.
A retina consultation is an extended examination by a retinal specialist. During this visit, a dilated eye examination often with special testing such as OCT (optical coherence topography)
or a FA (fluroscein angiogram) may be undertaken to evaluate underlying retinal disease.
A retina physician specializes in diseases of the back of the eye, "the film in the back of the camera". After measuring the vision and intraocular pressure, they will dilate both pupils with drops and examine and often photograph the retina as so much more can be defined about what is going on.
Comprehensive eye examination, dilation to look at the back of your eyes which is where the retina is located. It may also include non invasive testing like an OCT
Retina examination includes looking at your retina, Oct scan and visual fields. This will help to detect AMD, diabetic retinopathy etc
