Are you referring to neuropathy? Neuropathy (pins. and needles) are the tingling sensation that occurs in the legs, arms, hands, and feet. A common cause is pressure in specific parts of the arm or leg, which causes compression of the nerves. They usually resolve quickly when position is changed, and the pressure is removed. It is important to see your health care provider if the problem is constant or often to have a complete neurological work up. Thank you.
There are many causes. The first question to ask is, it it localized? Is it self limiting? Are there any precipitating factors? Any underlying illness? If it is long standing and persistent, see a neurologist to rule out a peripheral neuropathy. Most self-limiting types will turn out to be benign.
