The general answer is redness, pain, or loss of vision. This list is not complete, but it covers 95% of real urgencies.

1. If you have a red, painful eye or discolored matter from the eye
2. If you have injured your eye
3. If you have a question or concern that is bothering you.
We usually see patients 1 day post-op. Then 1 week post-op, and then 4 weeks post-op.
What do you mean call the doctor after cataract surgery? if you're having any concerns or problems with the surgery, you need to call immediately.
Any decrease in vision, increase in pain/redness, flashes/floaters, or any other worrisome symptom should be communicated immediately to your surgeon/surgical team. Although complications are very rare after cataract surgery, they can occur and should be dealt with immediately.
