When should I see an orthopedist for foot pain?

I am a 33 year old female and I have frequent foot pain. When should I see an orthopedist for foot pain?

In general, you're better off with an Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle specialist than a podiatrist. Obviously, there are some exception in both directions. I am, however an Adult Reconstruction specialist (Hip and Knee) so I'm not your guy.
If you’ve had prolonged foot pain, it is reasonable to see an orthopedist any time.
You should see an orthopedist when you have tried changing your shoes and over-the-counter orthotics without any relief.
At 33, if you are having regular or ongoing foot pain, you should seek an evaluation. Your best bet is an orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in foot and ankle.

When the pain is enough to bother you, make activities difficult, or if you would just like to know what's going on with your foot.
If you are having foot pain and it isn’t being resolved after seeing your family doctor, it is probably a good idea to see a specialist.
