Why am I having trouble smoking?

I got out of the dentist this morning. I received local anesthesia in the gums. I went to try and smoke some legal marijuana (California) after the anesthesia started to wear off, and for some reason, whenever I try to inhale, my nostrils feel that they are opening up widely, I snort, there is air being pulled in from both my nose and mouth (and I am not trying to pull air from my nose) and I cannot properly inhale the smoke. this was not the case early this morning (before receiving anesthesia,) or last night. I am trying to understand what happened as this seemed to be an issue after receiving anesthesia.

Smoking anything while you are numb is not advised. If you must smoke wait till the numbness goes away.
Just some anesthesia of the palatial muscles which will subside in time
As a dentist I should advise against using marijuana before or after anesthesia, because it can alter the chemistry of the anesthesia and make it not work properly. Also until the anesthesia wears off completely creating a vacuum to suck or spit is very difficult. your body thinks you are trying to inhale and it can’t from the mouth so your body breathes in through the nose.
With your lower lip numb you cannot get a good lip seal to inhale the smoke from your joint. That should return to normal after lip feeling returns
Wait till the anesthesia wears off. If things don't change, see your dentist or an oral surgeon.
