Why do I have ear tip pain?

I've been having pain on the very top of my right ear for about 2 weeks. It is a dull pain not sharp. The ear is sometimes hot and red at the top as well. I cannot see any visible bumps or bruises or anything and did not injure it. What might it be?

Options are focal neuralgia, post-traumatic, post-UV exposure. If you have sensitive skin, use sunscreen. Ibuprofen may give you relief, also topical cortisone preparations. Wear a hat outside.
Some cartilage inflammation, a steroid cream should help

That's outside of my scope of expertise, as I am not a physician. I would suggest seeing a general practitioner, and if it persists beyond that, then see an Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT) physician.
