My heels hurt when I stand still. What could be the cause? Should I see a doctor?

A common source of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. I would recommend stretching and strengthening your calves and rolling out with a frozen water bottle. Massage therapy or instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization is a great way of quickly treating PF!
usually plantar fasciitis, xrays, and yes see a pt or chiropractor.
Plantar Fasciitis and yes.
You are likely developing Plantar Fasciitis. Try some orthotics and stretching. Read up on Plantar Fasciitis in some of my other patient answers and on my page on this site
Depending on the type of pain, there are several possibilities. I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for diagnosis and treatment options.
There could be many options in your diagnosis from plantar fasciitis in combination with a possibly heel spur and or with the combination of a bursa. Should be evaluated by a podiatrist treatment options
Try a New Balance 990 shoe first. Then, consult with your local podiatrist.
The symptoms you are describing is likely caused by heel spur or plantar fasciitis. please see a podiatrist, 5 min exam along with an xray, treatment options can be given after that.
