Not all chiro “crack your neck or back”. Some use a device that shifts your bones and is very gentle without cracking.
So Chiropractors "align" your neck. I hope they're not "cracking" it. An alignment is indicated when a chiropractor examines a body part, such as a neck in this case that seems to be misaligned or subluxated. The "crack" sound is gas being released in the joint. Realigning the joints is important in maintaining proper spine care, proper nerve conduction and maintains proper function and motion in the spine.
Chiropractors often use manipulation of spinal joints or extremity joints to reduce misalignment or to free joints that have lost full range of motion. When a joint has lost its full range of motion or rests in an abnormal position, manipulation can help to restore the normal alignment and movement patterns. During manipulation, there is often a "pop" or "crack" that comes from opening the joint space and releasing the pressure similar to opening a can of soda.
To help relieve pain and create a healthier range of motion.
Chiropractors crack the neck to realign the spine and restore proper function of the spine.
