Are blood disorders genetically passed on?

My son and father both have the same blood disorder. Are blood disorders genetically passed on?

Many blood disorders are genetic, but not all are. Depending on the blood disorder, there are statistics on how often it is passed on from parent to child.
Some blood disorders are inherited, like sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, hereditary spherocytosis, where the gene to give the recipe on how to make blood, has an error in the recipe.
Other blood disorders can be acquired during life, & are not passed on—they are not in the egg & sperm genes. These include most leukemia’s, lymphomas, many platelet disorders. Some of these can be a tendency to be inherited, like having autoimmune problems, etc.
