My grandmother was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and her symptoms are very severe. Are falls a common complication of this disorder?

Minimizing fall risk is very important. Remove all throw rugs. Low lighting in her room at night. Make bathroom access easy. She may need a bedside commode.
Yes, falls are a common risk with Parkinson's disease. It is primarily the increased tension in the muscles and the problem with balance that increases this risk. Using a walker and taking levodopa/carbidopa can decrease risks of falling.
