Are you put to sleep for dental implant surgery?

I am a 26 year old male. I will have dental implant surgery. Are you put to sleep for dental implant surgery?

Sometimes you are put to sleep, sometimes not. It generally is not required, however many people/surgeons prefer it.
No.
No, you do not have to be put to sleep , the tissue around the area is numbed with a local anesthetic and the implant is placed in the bone which is very lightly numbed with the same local anesthetic. it is advantageous for you to be conscious to help tell the dental surgeon if there is any discomfort.
Local anesthesia
Hello,

Usually, you are only put to sleep (given general anesthesia) if there is a reason to put you to sleep for most dental procedures. Having an implant put in is usually not a reason by itself to put someone to sleep. The reason for this is because with local anesthesia, there is usually no pain or discomfort. Most of the time the patient is completely unaware of what is happening during the procedure.
Hope this helps.

My best to you!

No. If you have severe anxiety you can request it.
