Surgeon Questions Back Surgery

Can back pain be completely treated with back surgery?

I had an accident 8 months back which caused a severe slipped disc in my back. I was wearing a belt, however there seems to be no progress in my condition. Can I undergo back surgery to treat my condition?

Yes, however you are at a high risk for post laminectomy syndrome.
If indeed you have a “slipped disc”, surgery will be the most likely therapy to give you long term relief. I suggest you consult a neurosurgeon and heed his recommendations. Good luck!!

No, tell your physician to refer you to a physical therapist for facet injection or epidural injection or laser therapy. I hope you had a CT scan or MRI and consultation with a spine surgeon.
I presume you have tried epidurals, physiotherapy NSAIDS and maybe even chiropractic manipulation.
This is a question that depends on the MRI findings. Lateralizing symptoms that we call "radicular" are more satisfactorily treated with surgery than central back pain. I would see a spine surgeon. Most are very conservative with back surgery because they know the results are not stellar.
