What is the best cure for severe acne?

My son has severe acne and is extremely self conscience. We have tried many face creams. Is there something that will actually cure this problem?

It would be prudent to stop the home experimenting and seek the care of an experienced dermatologist in order to prevent further psychological damage and to minimize the development of permanent acne scars, which can give rise to lifelong psychological issues. From the sound of it, enough time has already been spent in experimentation. It's time for professional help. Best of luck.

Yes, go to a dermatologist for proper treatment. Many just go for steroids or iso-retinoids, but this is only symptomatic relief and dangerous to use in the long-term. Acne is caused by only one bacteria. It can be eliminated by a good dermatologist.
Depending on his age there is usually a stepwise approach to treating acne. Once scarring sets in the best treatment that is usually long term is isotretinoin (Accutane). Prevention of scarring is by being aggressive with topical and oral therapies such as antibiotics to reduce inflammation in the skin. See your board certified dermatologist to help manage this.
