Cardiologist Questions Bypass Surgery

What is the best diet after having bypass surgery?

I had coronary artery bypass surgery 3 months ago. What are the kinds of foods I should be eating and staying away from?

Definitely can't go wrong with an AHA diet. But if your heart muscle is weak, then you will want to also be on a low sodium diet. If you are diabetic, then that changes things as well. So, usually as part of the post-CABG process, patients are sent to cardiac rehab and a consultation with a dietician to address your specific needs.
Low-fat and low-cholesterol diet is best to prevent future blockages and heart attacks.
The best diet would be the Mediterranean diet. It reduces cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. This diet is backed up by science, whereas the other diets out there such as the ketogenic diet do not have any evidence.
