Ask your surgeon. I recommend to avoid mouth wash that contains alcohol. I like my patients to use a mouth wash that contains 0.12% Chlorhexiddine such as Perio Guard. Two tablespoons on the affected area, rinse for 45 seconds twice a day for one week.
Yes
Hi
It depends on if your implant was completely submerged under the gums or not. If it was submerged under the guns then you can use non alcohol containing mouth wash. If it was exposed with a healing abutment then It is usually recommended to use a medicated mouth wash like chlorhexidine gluconate that is usually prescribed by the dentist placing implant.
If you are not sure of your condition then do not use over the counter mouthwash to be on safer side or if you like to use on then use a medicated mouthwash and ask your dentist to provide one for you. Alternative option use warm salt water which is always safer. Hope this helps.
Yes, usually mouthwashes are okay, just make sure that you speak to your provider about the type.
Yes, you can, but only Chlorhexidine 0.12% twice a day.
Mouth wash has no negative effect on the implant itself, it is more preferable to use a rinse such as chlorhexidine (peridex) for the tissue and better healing.
