When a proper exam is performed prior to beginning care, chiropractic is safer than almost any other form of health care.
As a 24 year old female you don’t have anything to worry about in terms of the treatment being dangerous. Your chiropractor will examine you before they manipulate to make sure it’s okay, but be confident that you’re in good hands and it’s a very safe and effective treatment for neck pain.
Any treatment can be dangerous if used improperly. Medical, chiropractic, physical therapy, nutritional supplements can all cause problems if done wrong. Chiropractic is safe and effective for most patients and chiropractors will examine you to see if you are safe. A 24 y.o. should have no difficulty with chiropractic at all. Make sure to tell the chiropractor about any injuries you may have to help them get you the best care.

Chiropractic treatment is probably the safest non-medical form of health care that exists. Of course, there is always some amount of risk with any health procedure. However no health care practitioner pays less for malpractice insurance than do chiropractors. Get a reference from a reliable source. If anything makes you uncomfortable, talk to your doctor about it. Mainly, just relax. The deeper you can relax, the easier and more enjoyable the adjustment. It is the best thing that you can do for your body.

Depending on what is going on with your neck and any additional symptoms, there may be some additional risks. A pertinent chiropractor can definitely inform you of any contradictions that may pertain to you before adjusting you. They may also discuss options or even refer you on for further evaluation to ensure the safest experience for you.
If it is done by a non- licensed practitioner
Most often than not it is harmless, in fact Chiropractors go through extensive amounts of training and education. This not only includes how and when to treat, but it also encompasses the ability to determine when not to adjust and when to send out as referral.
Yes, statistically one in one million patient may have an adverse response
Any adverse events from Chiropractic manipulation are extremely rare and are not life threatening. Seeking out a Chiropractor who performs a thorough examination is your best option to lower your risk even further.
