Can flossing loosen metal braces?

I am a 16 year old female. I wonder if flossing can loosen metal braces?

As long as the brackets aren’t being removed during flossing, flossing shouldn’t cause any change in the actual braces. However, cleaning your gums, either by flossing with normal floss, flossers, or something like a Waterpick, is really important because braces can be really hard to clean and can affect your gum health very quickly. So, definitely keep flossing!
Generally, orthodontic brackets and wires are attached well and very stable. With careful flossing it would be unlikely to loosen your braces. Sometimes brackets can pop off and if that happens it is always good to call your orthodontist.

No. The floss goes in between the teeth and the brackets are cemented to the front of the tooth. Flossing is essential with braces. I would recommend “superfloss”. Thread the floss underneath the wire, floss between the two teeth in the area, and then thread the floss out. Go to the next tooth and repeat.
Usually flossing won’t damage your braces if done properly. It may be possible to use too much for and loosen a bracket but all orthodontists recommend flossing. Healthy teeth and gums are directly related to good oral hygiene.
Definitely can loosen if you are not using the appropriate devices/instruments or flossing with the appropriate technique with excessive force or pressure. Recommendations will be using the Superfloss, Floss Threaders or Waterpik Water Flosser with the Orthodontic Tip. You should follow all the recommendations given by your specialist.
