Anesthesiologist Questions Anesthesia

Can I drive after MOHS surgery?

I'm scheduled to have MOHS surgery very soon, and I'm well aware that I do receive local anesthesia where the tumor is. But still, should I have someone drive me to my procedure and pick me up because of the anesthesia? Or would I be okay to drive because I'm not going to be completely under?

Any anesthesia, GA or mild sedation, warrants you not to use any machinery for 25 hours, and driving is no exception.
You still need someone to drive you to and from the surgery because you will get sedatives and painkillers as part of sedation.
If you receive any sedation you should have someone drive you home. There is no such thing as “a little drunk”.
It is always preferable to have a driver on the day of the procedure, in case the local anesthesia numbs up the affected area and you are not able to move that particular limb.

That largely depends on the policy of the facility at which you are having the procedure for. If there is any sedation involved, you should have a driver.

Typically patients are able to drive after an in-office procedure with local anesthesia. However, depending on the specific case and your physical status, it is important to remember that you might be in the office for 4-5 hours and may be tired after the procedure. You should always seek the advice of your surgeon if you have questions.
In general yes but I highly suggest you speak with your dermatologic surgeon regarding this. If it is very close to the eye it is possible you will have a bandage covering the eye and making driving unsafe.
