Plastic Surgeon Questions Skin tightening

Can I tighten the skin around my stomach?

I'm 22 years old, and I have a lot of loose skin around my stomach that makes me really uncomfortable. Are there any treatments to tighten the skin in that area?

Hello. Yes, it all depends on the looseness. If the laxity is severe, you need a full abdominoplasty or full tummy tuck. If it’s mild, you may benefit more from BodyTite. For further inquiries or questions, please visit my website at DrRoya.com. Good luck!
There are a number of ways to tighten skin and they range from complex and expensive to fairly simple, depending on what your situation presents. You should make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

There are no good procedures/products to tighten loose skin around the abdomen that do not involve surgery. The gold standard is an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), a 2-3 hour major surgery to remove as much loose skin and extra fat as possible. Nothing will accomplish what a tummy tuck will. It is very common among those who have lost a lot of weight and have extra abdominal skin and women who have had one or more pregnancies. In good hands, this is a very reliable procedure but carries all the risks of any surgery.
We use Exilis in our office to help tighten the skin. In someone who is young as yourself there is usually a very good response. The results will not be as significant as a surgical abdominoplasty, but it is also a nonsurgical procedure with no recovery and no down time. You are not alone. There’s no easy fix. Without seeing pictures of you it’s most probable that you are going to need an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck to get rid of the loose skin. It’s the operation that has the greatest chance of giving you the results that you’re looking for. Skin tightening procedures that are not surgical typically won’t work for any length of time and may create disappointment for you consult with your board-certified plastic surgeon
