Can therapy help with nightmares?

I am a 30 year old male. I have nightmares from seeing the body bags of covid victims. Can therapy help with nightmares?

I would say yes. Find the trigger also journaling. Include are you eating late at night, what were you watching on TV, there could be lots of things causing. When you have a nightmare, wake up take three deep breaths, and recall your experience, write it down, do this for as long as you need. Then discuss it.
Hi,

Thank you for your question. Nightmares can be resolved through different therapeutic approaches, including Somatic Experiencing (SE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Medications have also been found to be helpful, particularly antidepressants with the strongest evidence supporting Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs).
I hope this information has been helpful!

Hello and thank you for reaching out. Therapy is able to help out with nightmares that resulted from the trauma of seeing the body bags of COVID victims. I would recommend finding a therapist that has experience in working with trauma.
Yes, without knowing you and doing a full psycho-social it sounds a lot like acute anxiety or post traumatic stress disorder, depending on the severity and duration of the symptoms, you and a counselor could review all symptoms and your counselor would make a more adequate diagnosis.
Hello and thank you for your question,

Talk therapy can help with nightmares. Processing the nightmares with a therapist can lead to fewer nightmares or less of an emotional response to nightmares.

Usually not. Trazodone is a medication that can help.
