Dentist Questions Toothaches

Can a toothache go away on its own?

My son has a toothache in his front tooth that comes and goes. I'm not sure if it's a cavity or not. Is it possible for toothaches to go away on their own, or should I take him to the dentist to see if it's a cavity?

Take him to the dentist and let them see if it is bite decay or abcess
The fact that your son's front tooth is hurting means he should be seen by his dentist. Most of the time when a tooth hurts, there could be a problem. It may have been injured. And it is starting to hurt. It may be nothing, but having it checked out will reassure you. Kids during play can bump the front tooth and you want it checked out.
Toothaches can come and go. If your son is having this pain, I would most definitely recommend the tooth or teeth to get evaluated. It's always best practice to tackle the problem at the front end. If there is a problem, it should be addressed at an appropriate time.
While toothaches may go away on their own, especially due to minor trauma such as hitting the tooth. More often than not, they are indicative of a more serious underlying problem such as decay. It is still a good idea to see your dentist to have it checked.
Hello, usually intermittent tooth ache means Infection. If it has happened couple of times and it has come back again, for sure it is an infection. I would highly recommend for you to take your son to his dentist before it is too late.

Pain can come and go. Best advice is to see a dentist to find out why this is happening.
The source of the toothache should be diagnosed by your dentist before it gets worse.
Any pain from teeth or the gums is a warning sign that there is something going on and should not be ignored. You should get him checked to make sure there is no nerve involvement and that it can be treated conservatively. Waiting too long can result in more pain, time, and money. Best is to listen to the warning signs and take action.
Hope it helps.
Yes, a toothache can go away on its own depending on the cause of the discomfort. Yes, your son should see the dentist to thoroughly evaluate the cause of the toothache.
I strongly suggest going to a dentist to have an exam on this tooth. It sounds like there may be infection at the root of the tooth. Sometimes when a tooth is damaged from trauma or dental treatment (and sometimes for no reason) the tooth can die and cause and infection at the end of the tooth root. When this infection builds up there is pain. The infection can eat away the bone and drain into the mouth. When the infection is able to drain the pain goes away. Then when the infection builds back up there is pain. It is a cycle that will never go away without dental treatment. A thorough clinical exam with x-rays should show if the tooth has infection.
See your dentist.
Pain is usually an indicator that somethings wrong, ignoring it may lead to more serious problems. Please have him looked at by your dentist.
