Yes. Go up one stair at a time. Step up with nonsurgical leg first then surgical leg. Coming down surgical leg first. Hopefully you have home health and railing to use
Yes, you can climb stairs after hip replacement. The timing though varies according to the speed of your recovery. If you have less or no complications, you should be able to do this.
Yes you can climb steps after a total hip replacement. Before you leave the hospital the therapist will be sure that you know how to do this safely.
Once you recover yes. Day after hip replacement, no. You weren't very specific with timing in your question. If climbing stairs is important to you, you can probably start working on that with the therapist a 2-4 days after your surgery depending on how you progress with walking. Walking comes first :)
If the surgery goes well, you should be able to return to normal stair climbing.
Yes absolutely!
All patients heal at different rates however you will be using a cane or walker following surgery for a few weeks. Discuss this in detail with your physician.
Yes. Typically, a few steps is tolerable the day after surgery but sometimes it may take up to a week to feel comfortable enough to attempt the steps. It may seem overwhelming but your other leg is what is advancing your body on the way up and lowering your body on the way down.
