Dentist Questions Root Canal

Can you get a root canal during pregnancy?

I haven't gone to the dentist yet, but I know that I need a root canal treatment for my back molar. But I'm also in my third trimester of pregnancy. Is it safe to get a root canal while pregnant? Or do I need to wait until after my delivery?

Yes. We don’t want to do elective dental procedures, but dental untreated infection is dangerous and painful. It becomes a priority for the mother, but lead aprons are mandatory for reducing the baby to exposure to radiation.
The safest period of time to have a root canal during pregnancy is during the second trimester, the 4th, 5th and 6th months. However, in an emergency, a root canal can be done at any point during a pregnancy, if certain special precautions are taken.
Yes. Generally in the 1st and 3rd trimester we do root canals if needed. Coordination/consultation with your OB/GYN is done by the dentist.
Yes, it is usually safe and safer than leaving the tooth with an active infection. Discuss this with your endodontist.
Third trimester should be safe. Minor concern if it were in the first trimester. Good luck with the baby. My two daughters each had babies last year!
Absolutely! The risks of postponing the treatment far outweigh the risks of the treatment itself.
