Pediatrician Questions Childhood Obesity

At what age is childhood obesity usually noticed?

My husband and his entire side of the family is obese and I am worried my son will follow in his footsteps. He is 2 years old now and supposedly of average weight. What precautions can we take?

All children should be consuming a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meat and low fat milk products. All children should participate in daily activities involving some kind of exercise such as playing in the park. He should see his pediatrician for a well check at 2 yrs, 30 months and then yearly to monitor his weight, height and growth.
