Is a dental extraction very painful?

I need to have a dental extraction in two weeks for my wisdom teeth. Is the extraction painful? Would I be getting anesthesia?

You will get anesthesia for this treatment. It will either be local anesthesia or general anesthesia based off of your request and surgeon preference. The surgery itself will be uncomfortable, but should not be painful. The healing process will lead to pain from 1-10 days. Good luck!
For a simple extraction of one tooth it’s not very uncomfortable. If multiple teeth and impacted it can be a bit uncomfortable after the injection wears off
Many wisdom teeth can be removed comfortably with a local anesthetic (shots of "Novocaine"). If you are going to have more than 1 wisdom tooth removed, it would be a good idea to schedule a consultation with an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, who can examine you, review your x-rays and help you determine what type of anesthesia would be best for you and your particular situation.
If done correctly you will not feel anything. There can be some post-operative pain for a day or two that can be relieved with over-the-counter medications. Anything beyond that would be a good time to call your dentist.
