Can a 74 year old diabetic patient undergo aortic dissection surgery?

My mother in law is 74 years old and is heavily dependent on insulin. Apart from this she also has moderately high blood pressure and kidney disease. She underwent bypass surgery 6 years back. She is now found to have an aortic dissection. Is surgery necessary?

Surgery may need be necessary. This can sometimes be controlled by beta blockade medicine such as Metoprolol or Propanolol.
