If you don’t have vision problems, gently wash your lid margins with water twice day. After 3 days if it is no better, or your having blurred vision, you should see a dr.
Yes, it’s preferable that you see a doctor for conjunctivitis as there are several different forms and need to be managed accordingly
Most conjunctivitis is viral in nature and will resolve over time without treatment. The corona virus can also present as conjunctivitis. Viral conjunctivitis of any type is very contagious. There may also be a bacterial component to conjunctivitis which can be treated with a topical antibiotic eye drop. I suggest you schedule a Telehealth appointment with your eye doctor to evaluate your situation.
Most adult conjunctivitis is viral. If you have preserved vision, minimal pain and just red eyes with sticky, not pus, secretion, then it is likely viral. Keep it clean with warm or cool soaks and recall that it is contagious so wash your hands after manipulating your eyes. Viral will heal itself in 3-10 days depending on the strain of virus.
You can try non-preserved artificial tears and cool compresses. If you improve, then you're okay. If worsening or no improvement in 24 hours, then you should see an eye care professional
Yes, but you may be able to do the visit on line.
Typically, yes you need to see a doctor so that it can be properly diagnosed
It's best to see a doctor
It depends on the cause - infectious , allergic, toxic, etc. Often antibiotics help, of antihistamines are needed. A person needs to see a doctor to find a cause and determine appropriate treatment to avoid complications and vision problems.
