Dentist Questions Dental Implants

Do I need a follow up after getting dental implants?

I'm 30 and had a few dental implants installed a few months ago. Do you think I need to get a follow up for them? If so, what will my dentist check for?

Implants needs follow up like natural teeth, at least once a year.
Yes, check for inflammation and healing.
Dentist will check for any kind of infection.
In general, a follow-up appointment would be imperative in monitoring the status of your dental implant. The time interval between follow-up is determined by your dentist. At the follow-up, the dentist may elect to take x-ray to check the integration between your bone and implant, measure the gum pocket, check for mobility of the implant (if any), etc.
Your dentist needs to follow up every 6 months to prevent and early diagnosis of problems. Implants are not excluded. I highly recommend you get a check up and cleaning every 6 months.
Yes, You must have your implants checked. If there is no pain or bleeding, surgeon will take radiographs in 6-10 weeks . He will make sure implants are integrated and ready to be restored with abutments and crowns or bridges.
It is important to get follow ups. The first follow up will ensure that everything is healed as desired and the implant integrated. It is recommended that a yearly follow up be completed to monitor for infection and bone loss. These are highly recommended because when implants fail they tend to fail fast.
Yes. Follow up for dental implants should be part of your normal 6 month recare appointments.
Hi there,

Yes, continued follow up appointments are always needed post implant surgery. If the crowns are on, depending on what the dentist states is right for you, usually your normal recare appointment schedule is followed, i.e., every 6 months We must always be cognizant that if implants fail post-crown insertion, it’s due to either cement or occlusion (bite), so catching anything early enough may save your implants from failure. If crowns haven’t been placed, follow-ups are always required, especially within the first 8 weeks to ensure surgical success and getting ready for the crown or restorative phase.
Hope this helps.
